At Willow Springs, we have a Spanish FLES (Foreign Language in the Elementary Schools) program and two full-time FLES teachers - Ms. Mellott and Mrs. Keener. All of our students receive 60 minutes of Spanish language instruction every week! We are fortunate to have this program staffed by two very talented teachers. 

A Message from Ms. Mellott

This is my first year at Willow Springs! My favorite part of teaching FLES so far is hearing my students speak to me in Spanish in the hallways! I learned to speak Spanish in college after going on a trip to the Dominican Republic and realizing that I really wanted to be able to communicate well with all the friends I had made. After my first semester, I realized how much I really loved it! 

Outside of school, I love going on walks with my family, visiting new restaurants, and watching true crime documentaries. 

A Message from Mrs. Keener

This is my 4^th year of teaching and my 3^rd year at Willow Springs. I was born and raised in Miami, FL and grew up speaking Spanish at home. What I like best about teaching a world language is seeing the progress students make toward proficiency each year. I also enjoy their aha moments and seeing them have fun! Outside of school, I like to spend time with my family and friends, travel, try new restaurants, and play the violin (I play with the FCPS Parent Orchestra).
